Freight Class Calculator is a free tool from Emerge that works out the freight class of any LTL shipment. Enter each pallet, crate or skid in inches and pounds or cm and kg to get cubic feet, density and the estimated class on the NMFC 13-tier density scale in effect since July 19, 2025. How to calculate freight class: multiply length x width x height in inches, divide by 1,728 for cubic feet, then divide weight by cubic feet. Each unit gets its own class, old vs new scale is shown, and units within 5% of a breakpoint are flagged for reclass risk. Free, no signup.
